Repeated bending tests on electric cables

SCOPE OF THE TEST

A sample of cable of appropriate length shall be fixed in the apparatus and loaded with a weight. A current of about 0,1 A shall be passed through the conductors. The sample shall be bent backwards and forwards in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the axes of the conductors, the two extreme positions making an angle of 90° on both sides of the vertical. A flexing is a movement through 180°. The rate of flexing can be 15, 30 or 60 per minute.

TEST EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION:

SIF through its collaboration with the most testing and research institutes, after comparing notes with customers and careful analysis of all standards, has been able to develop a product with particular focus on:

 • SAFETY STANDARDS

• PREVENTION OF WEAR AND TEAR OF MECHANICAL PARTS

• COMPLIANCE WITH STANDARDS CEI EN 50289-3-9, CEI EN 50396:2005-08, EN62893-4-1, ISO19642-2

The true added value of the equipment is the innovative solutions of the Research & Development team, which has paired creativity and engineering to test:

 • AT FLEXING SPEED RATE OF 15, 30 OR 60 PER MINUTE.

• UP TO 4 CABLE DIAMETERS

• WITH BENDING RADIUS BLOCKS ACCORDING TO THE STANDARD

• WITH WEIGHT/MASS ACCORDING TO THE STANDARD

Element that make up the testing system

1. Cable movement system

Design that eliminates the shock due to the sudden change of direction.

2. Quick cable fixing system to facilitate the test set up

3. Positioning system for mechanical guide and stress systems

Adjustments and positioning of mechanical systems to keep the swing axis centered

4. Weight with simple cable tightening

5. PLC and operator control panel to adjust and view the test parameters

Set/completed cycles, alarms and signalling

6. Load-bearing mechanical structure

RAL7032 painted, with protective carter

7. Interrupted cable signaling system with rotating electrical contacts

8. Connection terminals on cable end side

SIF INNOVATIVE SOLUTION:

9. SIF_RIMCS_AM@ Interrupted conductor detection system with analog measurement

Recognition of each interrupted conductor up to 5 conductors with rotating electrical contacts and indication of measured current on each conductor (option)
