Fire test equipments are used by electric cable manufacturers to verify that the products comply with the relevant standards and in particular the new CPR regulation (Costruction Products Regulation) in force for all EU member states from 1 July 2013 , which covers all products manufactured to be permanently installed in buildings and other engineering works such as homes, hospitals, schools, subways, industrial and civil buildings.

Until now this legislation had not touched the cables world, but from 1st July 2017 according to the EN 50575 standard, it will be mandatory to obtain the Certificate of constancy of performance in order to allow the manufacturer to draw up the Declaration of Performance (DoP) and consequently to be able to affix the CE marking.
Referring to cables the European Commission has decided to consider the reaction and resistance to fire in the event of fire as relevant characteristics for the purpose of building safety.
The cables will be classified into 7 Fire Reaction classes: Aca, B1ca, B2ca, Cca, Dca, Eca, Fca identified by the subscript "ca" (cable) depending of their decreasing performance.
